"The pinking issue is really the food source for the microorganisms. Remove the nutrient source—plasticizers in the vinyl—and you remove the trouble," says Niehaus. "Many companies are looking at options such every bit thermoplastic olefin [TPO]. Unlike PVC, TPO does not utilise plasticizers. Plasticizers are a nutrient source for the microorganisms that cause pinking.
